The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is a charitable organization that was established in 1986. They raise money to advance research, education, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer, and quality of life for those with breast cancer. A big focus of the CBCF is on regular screenings and early detection. Breast cancer has a high percentage of being treated successfully if caught in the early stages.

Day Surgery Day

The year was 2001, and it was time for the annual exam that noone looks forward to. She hadn’t been in to see the doctor in over four years. so she was a little nervous. There’s really  no eloquent way to talk about this type of doctor’s visit so fast-forward to the end, everything went without incident, and she was on her way home.  A couple months later she received a call from her doctor, who wanted her to come in to discuss the results. She knew enough to realize this was probably not  a good thing.

As anyone who’s read my blog before probably has figured out, I am a big proponent of prevention. When it comes to health, I’d rather make changes in advance, rather than waiting for something to happen and try to fix it then.

Seriously? $1.68 for a cup of hot WATER?

One side effect of reading and learning more about cancer, I’ve discovered, is a big self-analysis on myself.  I knew the basics… smoking bad, too much alcohol bad, fast food bad.  But I have learned far more than ever before.

After spending a great deal of time reading studies on cancer prevention and dietary changes you can make to help prevent cancer, I decided to replace any caffiene I’ve been drinking with water.  This included my beloved coffee. (I still miss you).  One thing I love, however, is the hot beverage first thing in the morning. I figured I would give hot water with lime a try.
